Biking Time of Year

Published on

Biking has started again in Squamish (okay it has been going for a couple of months now), but now it is getting serious. Test of Metal is around the corner on June 16th.  There are ‘warmup’ races throughout the Sea to Sky corridor such as the Orecrusher this weekend  in Brakendale, and the Nimby 50  in Pemberton on May 26th.

Need to train for these races, no better way than getting on your bike and doing the Toonie races held bySorca (Squamish Off Road Cycling Association).

If that is not enough for you, and yes if you really want to do well at the long cross country races it will not be enough for you.  You need to get on your skinny tire bike and join in on the Friday Night Rides from Corsa cycles at 6pm lots of fun, and will really lift your fitness. Once this is all done, you can enter the rest of the races put on by the good people who run the Test of Metal or branch out and try the really BIG tire downhill race series put on by WORCA (Whistler Off Road Cycling Assocation)  the PH Downhill Wednesdays.  You can also go skinny tire racing and try one of the Fondos.  The Vancouver Fondo runs right throught Squamish, and there are other ones in, Kelowna, Banff or Penticton, just Google Fondo in BC and you will find lots of them. Bike to Work Week – May 28th to June 3rd.
