Reminds me why Squamish is a beautiful place

Published on

I was driving into Squamish this past weekend and and I was reminded why Squamish is the outdoor capital of BC.  Looking over the harbour I saw dozens of sailboats, Kite boards and wind surfers in the harbour.  That is a beautiful, colourful scene on a sunny Sunday after a busy weekend of activities. We had the inaugural Squamish 50 this last weekend.  That is 50 miles, or 80km of trail running.  You could do it in the form of a relay, or as an individual.  The fastest guy was done in 7 hours 25 mins, yes that is a long time.  Jason Loutitt is also just using it as a training run for a 100 miler.  ugh! So what is up for this weekend’s activities.  We there is Just Another Bike Race  on Saturday.  Brought to you by the same fine folks that bring you the Test of Metal every year.  This one goes over all the trails that haven’t been in another race this year.

Need to get out of town.  Head to Whistler for Crankworxs a weekend of downhill mountain biking mayhem.  Want something a little more cheesy, try the fifth annual Cheese Rolling contest on Blackcomb Mountain.  Yes that is a real round of cheese you will be chasing.

Not enough, try the Slow Food Cycle in Pemberton on Sunday.  Cycle through the Pemberton Valley and try out the local quesene at the farms along the Pemberton Valley road.  You can stay in Pemberton, or venture all the way to the end of the Valley to visit the Llamas and bees, it is a 50km ride so go prepared. Not quite what you had in mind.  Squamish is beautiful and you don’t want to leave?  Would rather buy a lot in Squamish.  Well have we got the event for you the lots at Crumpit Woods.  The sales team will be on site for interested buyers to tour the site and pick there lots.  Come on out!

Whatever you do get out and enjoy the weekend.
