Squamish days are on their way!  August 1st is the official kick off of the loggers’ sport celebration with the On the Farm Campfire Showdown! August 2nd SQUAMISH STATION WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CHAIR CARVE A chair carving contest unique to Squamish in which chairs of all shapes and sizes are carved out of logs using chainsaws. Judging and auctioning of chairs takes place at approximately 5:00 pm, with all proceeds going to Big Brothers & Big Sisters Squamish. “INTO THE WOODS” ART FASHION SHOW NEW FOR 2014! “Into the Woods” transforms into a fashion show, featuring local artists creating wearable art inspired by the unique beauty of our surrounding forests and our logging heritage. SQUAMISH DAYS BED RACES    What’s a bed race? It consists of a bed on wheels with a 5-person team – 4 pushers and a rider. Each team must negotiate a 2-block course filled with obstacles and challenges. It’s fun, exciting and wacky. Cleveland Avenue is the race course, beginning at Pemberton Avenue and ending at Victoria Street. August 3rd CHILDREN’S SPORTS  and the Farmer’s Market  Something just for the kids! Come and take part in all the games and races. There will also be special events including a decorated bicycle, wheelchair, or stroller parade. NEW FOR 2012! Children’s Sports will feature a “Best Dressed SAM” contest. After the Children’s Sports stop off at the Farmer’s Market. Peruse the many booths featuring local artisans, crafts, food, local produce, and live music. LOGGERS SPORTS begin at 1:30pm.This is where competitors start in loggers sports. The show is fun and gives competitors a chance to improve and move up the ranks. Come and cheer them onto victory and enjoy the Rotary Beef Barbecue which has been a Squamish Days tradition for over 50 years! 3rd ANNUAL AXE THROW INVITATIONAL The field has been limited to 30 entrants, who will throw off for prizes and bragging rights. The Rock Bar & Grill will feature live music following the Axe Throw Competition. FREE Shuttle Service call 604.848.5732 August 4 ELKS & LIONS LOGGERS BREAKFAST 7:00am -11:00am – Chieftain Centre, Downtown Squamish Start the day with a hearty logger-style breakfast. Enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, milk or chocolate milk. SQUAMISH DAYS 10K RUN & the Flashback Mile The Squamish Days 10K course is an accurately measured fast, flat, out-and-back route with a paved shoulder, minimal traffic and is friendly to wheelchair athletes. Post race includes draw prizes, awards and refreshments.The “Flashback Mile”, commemorates one of the first runs held in Squamish, This event is popular with kids, but there is also an open adult category – perfect for those just getting into running or those who prefer speed to distance. Post race includes draw prizes, awards and refreshments. runners (1) SQUAMISH DAYS FESTIVAL PARADE 11:00am Always a family favourite, the parade will begin at Vancouver Street, travel up Cleveland Avenue and end at the Bank of Montreal. Bring the family and enjoy the fun! WORLD-CLASS OPEN LOGGERS SPORTS SHOW Squamish Mills proudly presents the World-Class Open Logger Sports Show. Come share the excitement and cheer for the Kiwi and Aussie choppers, the Canadian birlers or the American climbers. You will be thrilled with the action, excitement and entertainment. One of the most exciting events you will see is the World Championship Tree Falling. The Rotary Beef Barbecue features beef slowly cooked over a bed of alders and is a Squamish Days tradition.August 5 SQUAMISH CAR CLUB SHOW N’ SHINE 10:00am-2:00pm – Check out the hot rod, classic or muscle cars being displayed.
