Squamish Soccer & All Star action

Published on

Soccer was rampant in Squamish this weekend with Brennan Park hosting the North Shore 30 Something Women’s Soccer League’s invitational with 13 teams from all over the North Shore competing. While the North Shore League was keeping it friendly, the Quest University Kermodes women’s team was out to prove a point – this year they mean business.  With four wins and zero losses so far in the season the team has had a great start, and by defeating the Kwantlen Eagles – who beat the Kermodes 6-0 in playoffs last year – things are looking great. “It was 0-0 right up until the 84th minute,” Coach Worth said. “But then they got a free kick and Lucas Menz made an amazing save, but the ball bounced around and they knocked it in. The boys’ response to falling down 1-0 to the best team in the province was amazing. If we can respond and play like that come playoff time with all of our players back, I like our chances.” It will be another busy weekend upcoming for both teams, as they play home-and-home series against the Langara Falcons. Langara will host Quest on Saturday (Oct. 1), with the Falcons coming to Quest Field on Sunday (Oct. 2). The women’s team will hit the pitch at noon on Sunday, with the men starting at 2 p.m. For more information on the team, visit www.questkermodes.ca Watching non-contact sport in the rain not your thing? Then maybe the antics of Gorgeous Michelle Starr, Disco Fury, and Lumberjack Bubba are more your style. A fundraiser for Recreation Programs, All Star Wrestling will be in Squamish at the Totem Hall on Saturday September 30th. Check out the details.
